  3. Version 1.1 fixes all KNOWN bugs that were in version 1.0.  It uses a
  4. totally new architecture and unpacker scheme.  Many other features
  5. were optimized, sped up, and so forth.

  7. If you have any comments regarding this release, please feel
  8. free to contact the author, Derek Backus, on one of the support
  9. sites or via the various means mentioned in this file and the rest of
  10. the program's documentation.

  12. If you have a question or comment regarding the online documentation,

  20. If you are upgrading from a previous version, just run the setup included
  21. with this release, it will upgrade your version automatically.  DO NOT
  22. simply copy the files, you must run the SETUP to correctly install 1.1.

  26. Our upgrade policy from other QWK readers has been vastly simplified.
  27. Read UPGRADE.TXT or UPGRADE.WRI (if you like nice fonts) to see how to do
  28. it.  It's simple and fast.

  32. If you are a registered user of 1.0 your key number will register
  33. 1.1.  Run setup and all of your configuration settings will stay the
  34. same.  Only the appropriate files will be updated.

  38. 1) You MUST HAVE WINDOWS 3.1 to run this program.  Trying to run it
  39.    under Windows 3.0 will NOT WORK, so don't try it.

  41. 2) This program is not freeware.  It is offered to the public as
  42.    shareware, which means you look at it, and if you like it and want
  43.    to use it forever and ever, you should pay for it.  See the enclosed
  44.    text & WRI files for details on how to do that.

  56.               *****INSTALLING THE PROGRAM*****
  57.  
  58. It's pretty easy.  You should have two zip files.  One is CQWK110A.ZIP
  59. and the other is CQWK110B.ZIP.  The second file isn't MANDATORY for
  60. operation of the program, but unless you have it, CMPQwk isn't going to
  61. spell check your messages.  The dictionary for that is enclosed in the
  62. second file.
  63.  
  64. If you've installed version 1.0, save your *.CMP files if you'd like by 
  65. copying them to a floppy or safe directory and then back to your
  66. CMPQwk directory after setup is through.  Please delete any copies of
  67. WUNA.DLL or WUNADLL.DLL from your system.  Version 1.1 uses an entirely
  68. different unpacking scheme than 1.0, and these DLL's are not required.

  70. The program WILL NOT operate WITHOUT running setup.exe to install it.
  71. Copying it to a directory and trying to run it will just cause it to
  72. fail, so don't bother trying that.  Run setup to correctly install it.
  73.  
  74. You must have the following:
  75.  
  76.     1) Windows 3.1 up and running with at least two megs of 
  77.            RAM.
  78.  
  79.     2) About 3.2 megabytes of free disk space on a drive
  80.            where you can *install* the program.
  81.  
  82.     3) About 3.2 megabytes of disk space to unpack the zip
  83.            files (into a temp directory) so you can run the
  84.            setup.  C:\temp will work fine, try to make it
  85.            a new or empty directory so you can delete the files
  86.            after you run the install.  Keep the zips, but you won't
  87.            need the files you put into the temp dir after they're
  88.            installed, so delete them when SETUP is finished.

  90. All this being satisfied, unpack both zip files into your temp dir
  91. and run the SETUP.EXE program, either by double-clicking it in a File
  92. Manager directory window, or clicking on Program Manager's File, Run,
  93. menu, and then entering the path to the SETUP.EXE file and pressing ENTER..
  94.  
  95. Tell SETUP where you want to put the program.  The default should work
  96. for most folks.  Put it where you'd like it, but it's best to put it in
  97. its own directory, and not with something else.
  98.  
  99. Setup will copy the files and advise you when it's finished.  If you
  100. are using Program Manager as your shell, it will offer to put an icon
  101. for CMPQwk there for you.  Choose which group you'd like to use.
  102.  
  103. Double-click on the Program Manager icon, or double-click on the
  104. CMPQWK.EXE file in a File Manager window.
  105.  
  106. The first time the program loads it will open a sample packet.  Read
  107. through the sample packet to see explanations on some of the features.
